Hello my name is Christina O'Brien. My two male chocolate lynx point kittens are named Iggy and Bowie. I purchased them from Douglas Schmidt of the Meikai Cattery in Indiana. I had a very good experience with him and would recommend him without reservation. My kittens live with my boyfriend and me and they have changed our lives. They are so lovely in both personality and appearance we couldn't be more pleased. They are very funny characters and keep us laughing. Both are them are unique in their own right. Iggy is much more demanding for attention and cuddles with me at night. He has earned the nickname Iggyly Wiggyly because he constantly tries to rub up against our legs as we walk. Bowie is more reserved at times, but when he gets going is the crazier of the two. He has earned the nickname Mr. Floppy because we loves to have his belly rubbed and will flop right down in front of us so we know what he wants. Both of my kittens are very playful, adventurous, cuddly and sweet. They love to play in boxes and will push them around the kitchen floor with only their little butts sticking out. They will chase anything I throw just like little puppies and wag their tails. We all race from one end of the apartment to another and they never seem to run out of energy. They love to run and slide across my hardwood floors on paper bags or blankets. Their favorite toy is a cat dancer. The little cardboard and wire toy that they never grow tired of. They run to the door when we get home and greet us with purring and endless affection. They are already quite known in our neighborhood. The kittens have taken up the habit of meowing at all passersby to make sure they are noticed. They have become quite vocal. We frequently have children meowing back at them in front of our window when the kittens are basking in the sun. One tiny little girl spent a half an hour singing and dancing on our front porch to the cats. It was so funny; the little girl heard us laughing inside the apartment but kept going! She screamed Twins! the first time she saw them. Everyone that meets them falls in love with them. They are such good little cats and have never had an accident. They do like to get into everything, but are never mean spirited. I was nervous about getting two boys because people told me they wouldn't get along. They couldn't have been more wrong. My kittens are inseparable. They sleep together, eat together and even dare I say use the potty together. It is hilarious because Bowie likes to stand up on his hind paws when he goes. I have never heard of a cat doing that before. I believe it is very wise to get two kittens to keep each other company during the day if you will be out at work. I don't feel sad leaving them because I know they make each other so happy. They are brothers and best friends. I am allergic to cats but I don't have much trouble with my little babies. I do sneeze sometimes, but I wash my hands often and havent noticed any major problems. They are so clean and even though they are white we hardly ever get hair on our clothes or furniture. I wipe them down with a washcloth and I use a grooming glove to clean their coats shiny and to keep their waves nice and smooth. They have beautiful wavy coats that feel like the softest fleece you can imagine. They have two scratching posts and I keep their nails trimmed. Please dont ever consider getting your cats declawed. I believe it is cruel. Did you know that it is actually illegal in many countries? My cats are not bad about scratching the furniture. I keep one scratching post right in the living room with sisal rope and they use that instead. When I first got them, Iggy did scratch one chair so I put plastic wrap around the bottom and it hasnt been a problem since. Another thing I would recommend is a self-cleaning automatic litter box. I received one as a gift when I got the kittens and it is the best gift I ever got. Our apartment doesnt even smell like cats. The litter box is practically worth its weight in gold and it gets two paws up from Iggy and Bowie who appreciate having a constantly clean box. I would highly recommend the wonderful Devon Rex breed to anyone interested in having a loving, intelligent, funny, interactive and beautiful cat. I cant say enough about them. They have made my boyfriend and me happier than I can express and I think they are very happy with us in return. We feel like we have a little family now. I must admit they are completely spoiled, but they deserve it because they are so cute and precious. They were born on September 30, 2000. Please visit their web page and let them know what you think! |
