Based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, PureX Devon Rex has been connecting ethical Devon Rex kittens with loving families throughout Calgary and the Calgary/Edmonton/Alberta area since 2014. As CFA, TICA, ACFA, and CCA registered breeders, we specialize in health-tested Devon Rex cats with excellent temperament and type. Calgary families often find that even with travel costs to Winnipeg, our comprehensive health testing of our CFA titled (meaning they have been proven in the show ring by many judges) parents, in addition to 3 sets of vaccines, spay/neuter, microchip, 6 week pet insurance trial, 2 year health guarantee, 6 year HCM guarantee and lifetime support, is still a step above what can typically be found elsewhere and prairie-based pricing for Veterinary care provides exceptional value compared to local alternatives, meaning- you may pay less and receive significantly more, even including the airfare and ~2.5 hour trip each way.

Calgary and Edmonton families often choose PureX Devon Rex over some more local options because of our comprehensive kitten packages and emphasis on health protocols and bettering the breed, rather than breeding as many kittens as possible.

 

All our breeding cats are tested for PKD, CMS, FeLV, FIV and receive regular HCM heart screenings by echocardiogram every 12-18 months. Each kitten going to Calgary or Edmonton homes receives 3 vaccines, 4 vet exams, spaying/neutering, microchipping, and complimentary pet insurance trial before leaving at 16 weeks old. Because we're located in the prairies where veterinary costs are lower than major centers like Edmonton or Calgary, we can maintain these comprehensive inclusions while remaining fairly priced.

We understand Calgary and Edmonton families want transparency in their breeder selection. That's why we provide complete genetic testing results of our breeding cats, dozens of accolades (regional and national breed awards), health clearances and medical records for their kittens (from the vet!), and ongoing support for all our Alberta kitten families.

 

Our small home cattery produces 2-3 litters on average annually, ensuring each kitten receives individual attention and proper socialization and we keep our commitment to bettering the breed, rather than simply breeding to fulfill demand. Calgary and Edmonton families visit us in Winnipeg (typically by plane to Winnipeg International Airport) to meet their kitten and us, firsthand - a trip that's both educational and often more economical than supporting questionable practices that might be more local, even factoring in travel expenses.
